This course meets many of the educational requirements to become an AASECT certified sex therapist for CoAMFTE Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and other psychotherapists. It is organized in an intense five-day format to maximize time and content, and to reduce costs. Some course requirements are expected to be completed in preparation for the class, and others will be completed after the five-day course has completed. Topics covered include: Diversities in sexual expression and lifestyles, health and medical factors in sex therapy, range of sexual functioning from optimal to problematic, cyber-sexuality and social media, substance abuse and sexuality, learning theory and application, professional communication and reflection, history of sex research and theory, education and counseling/therapy, principles of sexuality methods and research, sex therapy methods and models, sex-related therapy techniques and diagnosis, theory and methods of medical intervention in the evaluation of psychosexual disorders, ethical decision making and clinical case review.
This is a 46 hour, semester course in one week. You will receive 46 CEUs spread over the 17 core AASECT educational training areas. Leading medicine/allopathic and complementary medicine professionals from areas such as Urology, Uro-Gynocology, Pelvic Physical Therapy, Functional Medicine, Somatic Healing, Psychiatry, among many others are all a part of this dynamic and rich course.
